Our Parenting Programs can be claimed under:
Line Item: 15_038_0117_1_3 – Training for Carers/Parents
Description: Training for carers in matters related to caring for a person with disability.
Yes. NDIS requires a recommendation from an Allied Health professional (e.g., Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Speech Therapist, or other treating professional).
- The recommendation should confirm that the Parenting Program will benefit you in supporting your child’s development, independence, or wellbeing.
The letter should:
- Be written by your Allied Health professional.
- State the program is recommended as part of building your capacity as a parent/carer.
- Reference the NDIS line item: 15_038_0117_1_3 – Training for Carers/Parents.
- Be addressed to your Plan Manager or NDIS team.
You should send the letter to your Plan Manager by email (if plan-managed).
- If you are self-managed, you keep the letter for your records and make the purchase directly.
- If NDIA-managed, you will need to check with your planner/early childhood partner.
Step-by-Step Purchase Process:
1. Identify the product: Choose the Parenting Program (“off-the-shelf” product) that best suits your family’s needs.
2. Confirm it’s a disability-related support: Ensure the program aligns with your NDIS plan goals and is directly related to supporting your role as a parent/carer of a child with disability.
3. Contact your Plan Manager: Reach out to your Plan Manager and explain your intention to purchase the Parenting Program.
4. Complete a Funding Authorisation Form: Your Plan Manager may require you to fill in a Funding Authorisation Form that lists the product details and purpose.
5. Provide your Allied Health letter of recommendation: Email or give your Plan Manager the supporting letter.
6. Allow your Plan Manager to pay the provider: Once approved, your Plan Manager will pay the provider directly, and you will be given access to the Parenting Program materials.
You can speak with your GP, Local Area Coordinator (LAC), or NDIS planner for guidance. They may be able to link you with an OT or other professional who can provide the required recommendation.
Each program provides:
- Video lessons
- Visual supports
- Printable tools
- Real-life strategies to support your family.
Topics include communication, behaviour support, daily living skills, school and learning support, sensory processing, social skills, parent self-care, and more.
If your line item is stated in your NDIS plan, you will need to request a Change of Service (COS). Contact your Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or the NDIS directly, and they will assist you with the process.
